Andrew Mortimer
Andrew
trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds and the
Palucca Ballett Schule in Dresden and worked extensively as a performer in
London's West End and on tour. His credits include Whistle down the Wind,
42nd Street, A Chorus Line, Hair, Alice in Wonderland, Cats and the lead
role of Lytton Strachey in the World Premiere of the musical play Eminent
Victorians.
He toured throughout Europe in Lord of the Dance and Celtic Life before settling in Berlin where he combined dance teaching with commercial and television work. He appeared as a guest artist with numerous ballet companies and was a founder member of Potsdam Stadtballett where he danced the lead role of Kay in The Snow Queen and Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet.
He has gained acclaim as a choreographer with his choreography of The Four Elements and Freak Out for Schmidts Tivoli Theater in Hamburg and was commissioned to choreograph a short ballet suite for the German AIDS Gala in December 2006. Other choreography credits include the UK premiere of High School Musical, the First Dance television series for UK ITV and the film Six Ways To Kill Your Lover which previewed at Cannes Film Festival.
In addition to his work as a choreographer, Andrew frequently adjudicates at dance festivals and competitions and regularly teaches at vocational dance and performing arts colleges throughout the world.
